1000# – [3 Rules for my class!]

12# – [Once upon a time…] Part 1 – two pages
“Once upon a time, there was a cat who ruled over a kingdom of broccoli.”
만약 여러분이 “Write a story that begins with ‘Once upon a time’”라는 지시문을 받았다면, 현실적인 뉴스 기사나 자기소개서를 쓰면 안 돼요. 그게 바로 ‘Once upon a time’의 정신입니다.
“Once upon a time…” means the story is about to leave reality and enter imagination. When someone says this phrase, it’s like ringing a bell that says, “Now begins the land of made-up nonsense.” It’s not a history book opener, it’s the international password for fairy tales, fantasy, and storytelling where logic can take a coffee break.
For example: “Once upon a time, there was a cat who ruled over a kingdom of broccoli.” That’s not real. That makes no sense. But that’s exactly why it works. This phrase doesn’t ask you to be accurate, it dares you to be creative. It is the literary equivalent of putting on a wizard hat and saying, “Let’s get weird.”
If you are told to write a story beginning with “Once upon a time,” do not write a school report or a diary entry. Do not be sensible. If you do, your teacher will look at your work like a cat watching a vacuum cleaner—suspicious and disappointed. You are supposed to write something unrealistic, magical, or absurd. That is the whole point. “Once upon a time” is not a fact-check invitation. It’s a dare to let your imagination take the wheel.

26# – [I opened my bag, and to my shock, I saw…..]
This prompt can go anywhere. “I opened my bag, and to my shock, I saw…” could lead to something funny, scary, sad, or completely bizarre. What’s in the bag might break the laws of physics—or just reveal something unexpected about you. It could be a dragon, a secret letter, or your own reflection. You can write something wild and imaginative or quiet and realistic. The point is simple: surprise your reader.

27# – [If I lived in space…]
Living in space would be (…………) but (…………………). I would like to talk about what I think it would be like if I lived there in the future.
Space isn’t a normal place to live. Not many people have gone to space yet, and we don’t yet know much about living there. We do know that it can be very bad for the body, and so scientists are trying to find new ways to (………….).
Another thing that would be very different in space would be (………..)
Space is a (………..) place, because (…………..). If I lived in space, I would (…… …..). I would also (………), and I would be careful to (………), because (………..)
There would be many amazing things to see in space that we don’t normally get to see from Earth. So although it would be a dangerous place to work and live in, (……………….)
In the future, people will probably (…………………), and I hope I can also. I think it will be very (……………).
Extra Info – Different things in space
- Food – food needs to last long, be tasty, be easy to prepare (no kitchen, no fridge, no oven), so all space food comes in very expensive packages, almost like army food.
- Living in small spaces – not everyone can endure living in a tiny little metal box for too long. Some people go crazy. This would be a very bad thing, and so the people who decide to become astronauts must be ready to live like this.
- Not seeing nature – nature is very beautiful and humans need to see nature, but in space, we won’t be able to bring huge forests and beaches with us. What could we do to fix this problem?
- Few other people – teams of astronauts living in space live together all the time, and have to learn to work together. This can be lonely, but also usually makes them become very close friends, almost like a family.
- The view – everyday they can look at stars and space around them, and it is a very special thing to see. Many astronaut feel that the view is very, very special, and changes the way they think.
- Being far from home – some people will really miss home, and so scientists need to design and plan ways to help space travelers not miss home so much.
