Extra Info – Different things in space

  1. Food – food needs to last long, be tasty, be easy to prepare (no kitchen, no fridge, no oven), so all space food comes in very expensive packages, almost like army food.
  2. Living in small spaces – not everyone can endure living in a tiny little metal box for too long. Some people go crazy. This would be a very bad thing, and so the people who decide to become astronauts must be ready to live like this.
  3. Not seeing nature – nature is very beautiful and humans need to see nature, but in space, we won’t be able to bring huge forests and beaches with us. What could we do to fix this problem?
  4. Few other people – teams of astronauts living in space live together all the time, and have to learn to work together. This can be lonely, but also usually makes them become very close friends, almost like a family.
  5. The view – everyday they can look at stars and space around them, and it is a very special thing to see. Many astronaut feel that the view is very, very special, and changes the way they think.
  6. Being far from home – some people will really miss home, and so scientists need to design and plan ways to help space travelers not miss home so much.
